QUIZ COMPETITION (QC)


Rules for the Quiz Competition (QC) is now released. 1.    TITLE & COMMENCEMENT
The ‘Legal Spectra, 2020 ― QUIZ COMPETITION’, shall be held as per the schedule to be fixed by the Organizing Committee. Unless a contrary intention appears from the context, the following words and expression are used in the following sense ―
·         QC means ‘Legal Spectra, 2020 – Quiz Competition’.
·         LLS means the ‘Lex Literary Society, SNIL’. 
·         Organizers/ Administrators/ Authority means ‘Members of Organizing Committee of Legal Spectra, 2020’. 
·         Team means, Team registered for QC composed of members from the participating Teams from the respective Law School/College/University in Legal Spectra, 2020.
2.    ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA & TEAMCOMPOSITION
·         The language of the Competition shall be English only.
·         Undergraduate students pursuing three or five year courses of LL.B. degree from any Law School/ College/ University recognized by the Bar Council of India are eligible to participate.
·         Only one Team can register from a particular Law School/ College/ Institution/ University to participate in the Quiz Competition.
·         Each Team shall comprise of two members only.
3.    FORMAT OF THE COMPETITION
·         The event will be conducted in two rounds, the Preliminary Written Round & the Final (Championship) Round. All Teams shall participate in the Preliminary (Written) Round and only top six Teams will qualify for the Final (Championship) Round.
·         The time limit for the Preliminary (Written) Round will be 30 minutes and it shall contain 40 objective type questions, each carrying two points. However, for each incorrect answer there will be a deduction of 0.5 points. The questions will be from general knowledge and current affairs and it shall not be restricted to the field of Law only.
·         The top six Teams will then compete in the championship round which will be an oral round. The final (Oral) round will be conducted in five different phase. In the first phase, each Team will be asked four (4) questions, for which they will be awarded 5 points however there will be no negative marking for any incorrect answer.
·         The top five Teams will then qualify for the next phase of the final round, for which each Team will have to face three (3) questions. For each correct answer, Teams will be awarded 5 points, however, for each incorrect answer; there will be a deduction of 2 points.
·         The top four Team will then qualify for the third phase of the championship round which will be an ‘audio visual round’, in which each Team will be asked two questions and will be awarded 10 points for each correct answer.
·         The fourth phase will be a ‘buzzer round’ in which a total number of 12 questions will be asked and the Team buzzing the buzzer first, shall be allowed to answer. For each correct answer, 20 points shall be awarded, however for each incorrect answer, there will be a deduction of 5 points. Provided, that if a Team fails to answer, after buzzing the buzzer, within the stipulated time as decided by the quiz master, there will be a deduction of 10 points.
·         The final phase of the final round will be an answer ‘till death round’, in which each Team will be asked questions till they fail to answer any and the Team will be awarded 5 points for each correct answers. The Team with the highest score at the end of the final round shall be declared as winner.

4. MISCELLANEOUS

·        The result of the championship round will be announced at the Valedictory Ceremony.
·        The time limit for each phase of the championship round shall be declared by the Quiz Master just before each phase of the championship round.
·        In case of tie, in any of the rounds, the Quiz Master shall have the freedom to adopt appropriate methods of tie-breaking.
·        The organizers reserve the right to take appropriate action for any unethical, unprofessional and immoral conduct.
·        The Rules specified herein above shall be strictly adhered to.
·        The Organizing Committee reserves the right to disqualify Teams for deviating from the Rules.
·        The Committee will resolve any contingencies that may arise during the conduct of the Quiz Competition and will be the final arbiters regarding any doubts / grievances.
·        The decision taken by the Committee shall be final and binding. These Rules are not exhaustive.
